Nick Harris
Nick Harris is dedicated to helping young people realize their full potential in this global society. After graduating from CVCA in 2003, Nick served honorably in the United States Air Force, working in places such as: California, Texas, New Jersey, Kuwait, and Iraq. Following his military service, he studied education as an intervention specialist at the University of Akron, graduating with honors in 2013. He believes exposure to opportunity is a great motivator and teacher of the necessary qualities to be successful in life. Mr. Harris is excited to see how Ladies First can positively impact YOU!
Kenny Jo-Jo Smith
After graduating from Buchtel High School, Coach Jo-Jo played basketball and graduated from Miles College (05), a prestigious HBCU in Birmingham, AL. He obtained a Master’s degree in 2011 from The University of Akron. In 2020 Mr. Smith became a self published author releasing a book titled “We Love Our Daddy” that focuses on the importance of fathers being present. Coach Jo-Jo’s playing experiences include high school, college and professional.
Tamaria Calhoun

Employed with Akron Public Schools with over 16 years of service.
My specialty is working with youth who deal with social and emotional hardships
Chari Payne
Graduate of The University of Akron. Chari is a mom of five, a certified Respiratory Therapist, substitute teacher for APS, and secretary for Akron Ladies First. She enjoys basketball, especially watching her children play!! Chari obtained an Associate of Arts from Cuyahoga Community College and then a Bachelors of Science in Respiratory Therapy
Dianca Gordon
Graduated from Central Hower High School where she was a four year letter award winner, with a winning record during 2002-2006.While playing basketball for Central Hower, she was able to earn an Athletic scholarship, along with an Academic scholarship to attend Walsh University.
Tiana Halsell
Graduate of McKinley Sr. High school, been coaching and mentoring youth for 6 years. Specializing in Girls empowerment. Currently employed with Akron Public schools (assistant) coaching high school girls basketball.
Akon Henry
Graduate of Farragut High in Chicago, Ill Graduate of Malcolm X Jr College in Chicago, Ill. While attending and playing basketball at Malcolm X was recruited and granted athletic scholarship to attend the University of Akron. Played final 2 seasons of basketball at University of Akron, earning membership into the school’s Letterman’s Club. Received Associate Degree in Law Enforcement, and Bachelor Degree in Secondary Technical Education.
TAMIKA J. ROGERS
GRADUATED FROM JOHN R. BUCHTEL HIGH SCHOOL AND ATTENDED THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON. SHE HAS BEEN A PART OF THE LADIES FIRSTORGANIZATION SINCE 2012
